ملخص الدراسة:

This study dealt with the characteristics of water wells and drinking water in khan Younis governorate, it aims to identify the chemical, physical and biological characteristics, moreover, to evaluate the procedures which used for moving and storing the desalinated water. This study depended on report of public health laboratories in ministry of health, khan Younis municipality and Palestinian Water Authority to analyze and study the properties of drinking water for 17 wells from the Total ones in Khanyounis Governorate. A hundred of drinking water sample was collected by the researcher, especially desalinated water. The sample with questionnaire has distributed on study areas according to the number of housing. A hundred questionnaires has distributed. The researcher entered, analyzed data for each questionnaire by using Excel, SPSS programs. In general, the result shows that the quality of groundwater in Khan Younis governorate is good by concentrate on some elements like (EC, TDS, NO3, TH, MG ,NA), which is in permitted levels from WHO and Palestinian Health Organization, but the (Ca) is not equal to WHO standards. But the (E.C, TDS, No3, CL, Na) don’t match the WHO criteria. For microbiological pollution in household drinking water whether from (municipality, purchased, Home filter, special wells), the study shows a high percentage of TC, FC which exceeded the WHO standards. Moreover there is a relation between water pollution of TC, Fc and the way for getting and storing it. Also a relation with the duration for cleaning the tanks. the study shows that the Calcium in the desalinated water don’t match with criteria of WHO and Palestinian health organization, followed with K with (18%) percentage, nitrate (15%) percentage, these preceded items are removed from desalinated water as a result of high quality of water desalination plants. (E.C, TDS, CL, T.H, Na, Mg) are in WHO and Palestinian Health Organization Standards. The study recommended not to purchase a water form a horse cart, to clean tanks periodically, to change homes filters, to digging wells and establish desalination plant in eastern area of khan Younis
