ملخص الدراسة:

This study titled: “The Health and Medical conditions in the Islamic Eeast (21-617 AH / 642-1220 AD)”, discussed the care-providers of health and medicine in the eastern Islamic countries, and the stance of the sultans in this regard. The study addressed doctors and people involved in the practice of healthcare considering their various specializations and positions, with a special focus on the most famous people, and the most important medical specialties and posts. This is in addition to the pharmacists in terms of the most famous people among them, and their prominent role in the early hospitals, pemaristaans, and the medical equipment and tools used by the practitioners in this regard. The study also illustrated the sultans and princes’ stance against doctors and the medical profession. After that, the study discussed the most important institutions and individuals who were involved in the medical education and healthcare. The study reported the most famous institutions, facilities, and scholars in this regard considering the eastern Islamic countries. The study also highlighted the important role of official authorities in supporting the medical and health facilities. The study also presented the types of diseases and epidemics that were common at that period, including the local and immigrant ones, and their most important causes, which were divided into two parts: the natural causes for the spread of diseases and epidemics, and the human causes for the spread of diseases and epidemics. The study also demonstrated the administrative and supervisory role of the state over the health and medical conditions, and the most important organizational principles to manage the individual and institutional work in this regard. The study also focused on the supervisory role of the state over the health and medical situation, which included the supervisory role of those practicing, monitoring, of the food facilities, in addition to the medical, educational and health professions institutions.
