This research deals with a contemporary issue which has a great impact on marriages. It is the issue of choosing the sex of a fetus to prevent hereditary disease. The first part of the research defines choosing the sex of a fetus and hereditary disease. In the second part, the process of choosing the sex of a fetus is explained. Finally, in the last part of the research, the Islamic Sharia ruling on this issue is given.
