These calamities act as a revelation uncovering the catastrophic breakdown in every area of the American politics and culture. These images of the end ignite Kushner's anxiety about radical and possible transformation or redemption of the condition of life in America in the coming Millennium. This is what the present paper attempts to explore. Turning and turning in the widening gyre The falcon can not hear the falconer; Things fall apart; the center cannot hold; Mere anarchy is loosed upon the world. (W.B. Yeats) In these famous lines from The Second Coming the world is on the threshold of an apocalyptic moment.
