This research studies Arabic diminutives in the poetry of the two Palestinian Intifadas (uprisings). It starts with defining this linguistic feature and illustrating the three diminutive categories of Arabic nouns. Then it examines the various purposes of diminutives, e.g. belittling, approximation, , expressing affection, and contempt. Finally, it illustrates how they have been employed in the poetry of the two Intifadas, depicting the Palestinian Cause from various perspectives: political, social, humanitarian and struggle.
